The Meteorological Department (MeT) has forecasted more rain and snow in Jammu and Kashmir until March 3. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Director of the MeT, stating, “Light rain and snow are expected at isolated to scattered places until March 2, while light to moderate rain and snow will occur at many locations on March 3.”
He further mentioned that the weather will remain generally dry in the region from March 4 to March 8.
The MeT advisory highlighted the possibility of temporary disruptions in surface transportation, especially over key mountain passes like Sadhna, Razdan, Sonamarg-Zojila-Gumri, Mughal Road, Sinthan pass, and other major roads in hilly districts during this period.
Tourists, travelers, and transporters have been advised to plan their trips accordingly and adhere to the administration and traffic advisories. The advisory also cautioned farmers to suspend irrigation and other farm operations.
Additionally, there is a risk of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas, along with a potential for snow avalanches in higher reaches.
