Rain, Snow In J&K from this date: Check details 

The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has forecasted a week-long spell of wet weather starting Monday over Jammu and Kashmir. According to the MeT office, the weather will remain dry until Sunday evening, after which there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snow in higher reaches across many areas of the region on March 10 and 11.

From March 12 to 14, intermittent spells of light to moderate rain and snow are expected at several locations, followed by another period of light rain and snow on March 15 and 16.

In light of these conditions, the MeT office has issued an advisory urging travelers, tourists, and transporters to check with authorities and follow traffic updates before planning any trips during this period.

Farmers have been advised to suspend agricultural operations from March 10 to 18, while people residing in higher altitudes have been warned to avoid avalanche-prone and slippery areas during this time.

On the temperature front, many weather stations in Kashmir recorded temperatures 1 to 2°C below average during the past 24 hours. However, Saturday saw day temperatures 4.5°C above normal across the Valley, with Srinagar reaching a high of 19.0°C. The capital city’s low for the night between Saturday and Sunday was 2.2°C, which is 1.1°C below average for this time of year.

The coldest temperatures were recorded in Pahalgam, which saw a low of -2.7°C, followed by Gulmarg at -2.4°C and Kupwara at -0.4°C.
