Important Advisory For Jammu People, Details Inside

In a move to bolster public safety, District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya has issued a directive mandating the installation of CCTV cameras across key establishments in Jammu. The order, implemented under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, aims to strengthen surveillance systems in the region.

The order applies to a range of establishments, including banking and financial institutions, business outlets, and public spaces with significant foot traffic. Affected locations include banks, ATMs, jewellery stores, petrol stations, shopping malls, restaurants, hotels, cinemas, liquor shops, educational institutions, places of worship, transportation hubs, hospitals, and offices.

Business owners and market associations have been given a two-week deadline to install CCTV systems that cover both entry and exit points within a 40-meter radius. The cameras must operate continuously with a power backup and maintain a resolution of at least 1920×1080, with stored footage to be preserved for 30 days.

The footage must be made available to law enforcement upon request, and any suspicious activity should be promptly reported to the local Station House Officers (SHO). SHO officers will track non-compliant establishments, which will be reported to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu.

The order, which takes effect from February 17, 2025, is initially set for eight weeks, with the possibility of extensions or amendments. Non-compliance could lead to legal consequences under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
