In a significant welfare move, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced free ridership for women in government-run transportation services across the region.
The initiative is designed to improve women’s mobility, ease financial burdens, and promote gender-inclusive policies. This measure is part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance public welfare.
Presenting the state’s budget on Friday, Omar Abdullah also emphasized that the region is on the path to lasting peace. Notably, this marks the first budget presented by an elected government in the last seven years.
