J&K ARTO to Blacklist Vehicles with Expired Documents by February 28

In a move to enforce road safety, authorities have announced that vehicles with expired documents will be blacklisted and seized on the spot from February 28.

Muazzam Ali, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Baramulla, addressed the media, urging vehicle owners and transport operators to renew their documents within a week to avoid legal consequences and the risk of seizure. He emphasized the importance of updating fitness and permit certificates to ensure road safety, as expired documents pose a serious hazard.

In response to public demand, ARTO also shared that the number of driving test slots has been increased from 240 to 360 per week, and the driving test schedule expanded to three days—Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday—to reduce waiting times.

With schools reopening in March, the ARTO called on school authorities to ensure their transport documents are up to date. “All school buses and transport vehicles must comply with regulations to ensure student safety,” he stated.

The authorities have warned that strict enforcement drives will continue, and no leniency will be shown to violators. Vehicle owners are advised to act promptly to avoid penalties and the risk of blacklisting.
