Rs 143 Crore Jammu Tawi River Front Project Set to Complete by April 2025: Javed Rana

JAMMU, MARCH 11: Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmad Rana, announced today in the Legislative Assembly that the Jammu Tawi River Front Project (Phase 1) will be completed by April 2025 at a total cost of Rs 143 crore.

Rana was responding to a question raised by Arvind Gupta during the session. He highlighted that the project has made significant progress, with 96% completion on the left bank and 94% on the right bank of the river.

Regarding the Tawi Barrage and Artificial Lake works, the Minister informed that these are being carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 64.80 crore, with Rs 36.15 crore already spent. He further revealed that 85% of the Tawi Barrage and Artificial Lake works have been completed.

To address environmental concerns, Rana also mentioned the preparation of a detailed DPR for Rs 34.06 crore aimed at preventing direct drain discharge into the Ranbir Canal, with 10 works planned for execution.
